Freedom from Emotional Eating, Food & Weight Obsession

“We’ll Start to Heal”

About a decade ago a client in our Binge Eating Disorder Treatment Program handed me this poem. At the time we published it in our newsletter. I just read it again for the first time in 10 years and was struck by how beautifully it describes my hope for everyone struggling with binge eating. I’m pleased to share it with you here…

Swallowed Anger
Swallowed Pride
Makes a Person
Feel Empty Inside
How Can I Fill This Void
And Feel Good?
It Seems That I Have
Always Used Food.

Food has been Comfort,
A Good Friend Indeed
It Has Calmed My Anger
My Hurt and My Need
No Longer My Friend,
I Cast You Aside
And Look For a New Friend
That Won’t Let Me Hide
I Want to Reveal
My Hurt and My Shame
I Hope That the Sharing
Will Help Ease My Pain.

Please Tell Me Your Story
And I’ll Tell You Mine
We’ll Do This Together You and I,
We’ll Talk and We’ll Listen
We’ll Cry and We’ll Feel
Before You Know It,
We’ll Start to Heal.

I have worked in the Wellness Field for 30 years. I created an Emotional Eating & Binge Eating Disorder Recovery Program way before most people knew BED was an eating disorder, NOT a “willpower” issue. Personally, I suffered for years before finding answers and the help I needed and deserved! I became a Coach in 1997 to help others who were still suffering as I had. I love being a Coach!
