I had to share this email with you. It was sent to me by a former coaching client, along with a picture of a white plastic snack bin marked “Mom’s Stuff”. In the bin was a variety of snack foods in bags, mostly, full. Here’s what the email said.
“Hi Ellen,
Just wanted to share this with you, this is my proud collection of half-eaten snacks. I have heard about these “strange” people who eat just a few bites of something then stop when they are satisfied. I never thought I would be one of them. But I was looking in my snack basket today and I realized that I haven’t finished any of these treats. I’ve eaten a couple bites here and there, then I’m done. I think that removing the rules and the diet thinking has been huge in this regard!”
IT IS POSSIBLE! There is hope! If you’re working on your own recovery from emotional and/or binge eating, and you’ve committed to moving away from diet mentality amd diet rules, be patient. Remember, you have probably had a lot of practice with dieting! With some mindfulness, intention, and practice, you can become skilled at “attuned eating”, as well…
