“I did everything I intended to do 🙂 !
That’s what was written on a coaching client’s session prep sheet this past Wednesday. The previous Wednesday, my client had set very clear intentions and followed through on them all, including no binge eating this past week.
Overcoming binge eating, her accomplishment, didn’t happen overnight. My client, who is a physician, a wife and mother, is working through some tough old habits. She expected to feel relieved as her decades-old focus on food and weight lessened, but she shared that some of the other benefits she’s experiencing are a real surprise.
“I don’t know if it’s because I am truly less busy, if I have more time because I’m not bingeing, or if I’m just calmer in general, but I do seem to have so much more time right now. I have so enjoyed watching Netflix and reading a lot, but I think it’s time to review my ‘Want/Don’t Want List’ and see if it’s time to add something new. Increase my time commitment to volunteering? Go on a mission trip? Write a book? Learn real estate? I just feel like something else is ‘out there’ for me.”
During our session on Wednesday, she told me she had already planned to experience something new. She always thought it would be great fun to be the person who gets to deliver flowers to people on Valentine’s Day, see their faces when the flowers arrived. My client has a close friend who owns a small flower shop and is often scrambling to make all of her deliveries. So, my client called another friend. Together, they volunteered their day this past Friday (Valentine’s Day) to help out their friend with the flower shop on her busiest day of the year. The shop owner was thrilled! Â My client was so excited!
When I tell people that recovery, overcoming binge eating, is all about opportunity to create, “deliver”, the life they say they want, this is what I had in mind! I can’t wait to hear how the day went!
Update: Â She had an absolute blast…and plans to do it again next year!
