  1. Great article! This issue is smacking me in the face right now as I suffer with back trouble. I believe that less body weight would ease the pain. But I love the focus being directed at more physical activity and healthy nutrition. It also struck me that dieting has been shown to reduce bone mass increasing the risk of osteoporosis, hmmm.

Does Dr. Bacon’s research take age into account? Even though I have been very active and eat pretty well my ‘numbers’ have gotten worse with age, so I wonder if there’s a compounding factor involved? I wonder if weight doesn’t matter so much when younger, but it does come into play more as we age?

Meg, that’s a great question. I’ll email Dr. Bacon and get back to you on that.

  3. Awesome article! Thank you Dr. Bacon for doing all this research and analysis to reveal the truth. Media is everywhere these days and there are so many ads that skew the facts in order to make us feel that we need to buy more diet/exercise/beauty products.
I will refer back to this article often (as I do with your HAES book and my AWO tools), especially on those occassions when I get sucked back in to believing the media is right. Having such great references to the contrary makes it so much easier to let go and focus on what feels right in my body. Thanks!
