Life After Emotional & Binge Eating

Did Barbie leave a lasting impression on you?

Growing up, I had several Barbies. I loved my Barbie Dream House and I was secretly envious of my friend Nancy who had both Barbie’s pink Corvette AND the Dream House (back then the Barbie Dream House was made of cardboard, but it was still amazing!).

I knew Barbie had Ken. I knew I didn’t look like Barbie. I never even dreamed I could get the guy or the dream house.

Did Barbie leave any lasting impression on you?

The Huffington Post College Blog just published a thought-provoking image, in this article,  The Scary Reality of a Real-Life Barbie Doll  Check it out. Any thoughts?

  1. Love the blog post. This made me LOL:

Slumber Party Barbie was introduced in 1965 and came with a bathroom scale permanently set at 110 lbs with a book entitled “How to Lose Weight” with directions inside stating simply “Don’t eat.”

And how about that size 3 shoe??

I loved several different styled Barbies, but my favorite thing about them all is that they wore the same size clothing all the time and looked fantastic in everything.

“Don’t Eat” diet book! OMG! How about the foot position requiring high heels…maybe to disguise that she was so disproportioned she would have tipped over even if she had flat feet.

  3. I had the card board house too – I loved the elevator and the bay window. I also had a bendable Barbie and I bent her leg backwards one too many times so she had a piece poking out! That hour-glass figure – I could never get my bust to measure up! 🙂

  4. I had the Barbie camper and I loved it! I always felt bad that I had 1 Ken and 7 Barbies- it was sort of like his Harem?
