Life After Emotional & Binge Eating

A New Type of Resolution

I am generally not one who makes traditional New Year’s resolutions.  In my earlier years I did make them and since I never seemed to hold true to them the exercise felt like one in which I repeatedly failed. This did not add anything positive to my sense of self or my life.

Now my New Year’s resolutions tend to be a more organic nurturing process and go something like this.

  • Each day is a new day to embrace my body and my life.
  • I will choose to approach my body and life with a sense of curiosity and wonder.
  • My body and life can be a laboratory for learning and living life more fully.
  • I will do my best to embrace my body and self with more love and acceptance.
  • My choices will be honored as opportunities for learning rather than as successes or failures.
  • I will seek pleasure as I move through my body and life.
  • I will honor painful feelings and sensations and use them to inform me about my body’s truths.
  • I will choose awareness and connection over distraction and disconnection whenever possible.
  • I will seek fulfilling ways to nurture my body and self as often as possible.
  • I will practice compassion for my body and self when my choices do not feel healthy and loving.
  • I will practice making my body a friend rather than an enemy.
  • Each day I will do my best to make choices that support my body as a sacred space.
  • Each day is a new day to embrace my body and my life …
