Life After Emotional & Binge Eating

We deserve underwear that fits!

Everyone deserves comfortable underwear! If I can have any impact while I am here on this earth, let it be to empower women to spend their days in underpants and bras that fit!  So, I was so proud when Becky, one of my coaching clients, posted this in the Members’ Forum!  Yes, Becky!  Here’s what she wrote…

Okay, I’ve got this “little Ellen” in my head these days reminding me of the things I have learned thus far and reminding me to use them! So I have an underwear story for you!

Being “mindful” was the first tool I used. I put on my undies this morning and I thought these are the pair that doesn’t fit me right (there could be several), but this one I am now aware of because I put them on. In the past I would have taken the philosophy of “grin and bear it” all day long. Today I thought why do I have to wear these just cause this is the luck of the draw from the underwear drawer! So I took them off and chose a new pair – aah much better! – I won’t be having thoughts of creeping underwear and my rear end hanging out all day long.

But then the next dilema – what do I do with this perfectly good – not worn out pair of undies? In the past I would have thrown them in the wash and of course they would have appeared in the drawer again. But to throw away a perfectly good pair of undies – now I am ruminating about it. Aaah “little Ellen” speaks again, “Make a plan”. I decided to set them on my writing table where I would see them at the end of the day. If I can’t think of what to do with them by the end of the day I can just throw them away. In my book, one day thinking about a pair of underwear is enough time and emotion wasted!

I think I used a whole bunch of Empowerment Tools, all over a pair of “creepin undies”. In the past I would have berated myself for having a butt that didn’t fit – then I would have thought of a diet – then I would have thought ugly thoughts – and then of course I would have eaten. The point is – I needed truth here! Someone cut those underwear wrong! Just kidding – “it is what it is” (“little Ellen” speaking again) – just underwear that didn’t fit! Just wanted to share my laugh of the day with you all.

Rachel, another Circle Member wrote this in response to Becky’s post…

Becky- they make great dust rags! You can cut them up – if you don’t want to be reminded that they used to dust your butt!

I commented, too…

I’m chuckling out loud, Becky!!! Think about all the different size and shapes of butts in the world! Now imagine one size designed to fit all. Ridiculous! Just not going to happen! I’m with you. No one should EVER have to spend the day in creepy-crawly underwear that does not fit their rear. (While we’re on the subject, I just can’t wrap my mind, or anything else, around the concept of a ‘thong’—or ‘butt floss’ as I have heard that style of panties called. Can somone explain that style preference to me?)

Becky, you deserve comfortable underwear! We all do! Great work! And I love Rachel’s suggestion to turn them into dust rags. No waste (or waist) there!
