“Eat in Moderation.” Ugh.

How many times have you heard, “You can eat anything you want, just eat it in moderation”? What the heck does that mean? How much is a moderate amount? And even if ”moderation” could be described, what if our body wants less than a moderate amount? Or more?

And does eating less than a moderate amount mean that we haven’t eaten enough? Or, God forbid, that we’ve eaten

  1. It’s funny how we begin to repeat a mantra over and over without really being truthful about what it means. It is just another “politically correct” way to say lower your calories! I use the “eat in moderation” expression all the time! As I read your article Amy I realized I do not want to eat in moderation! – What I really want is to be in tune to my body and it’s needs! Thanks for stating that in clear and easy to understand words – truth. My new mantra is “I tune in and trust my body’s signals.” 🙂
